Child Support

Maryland law provides that child support shall be calculated pursuant to the Maryland Child Support Guidelines. Child support is paramount to the safety, security, and well-being of our clients and their children. Each case requires a personalized analysis to ensure that child support is accurately calculated.

There are a number of factors taken into account to calculate child support. At Alman & Alman, LLC, we advise our clients of likely child support outcomes and what factors are considered.

When a party does not report all of their income (is working “off the books”), it may be difficult to accurately calculate the income of an opposing party. Our attorneys understand the necessity of accurately calculating income and take every step necessary to locate and present evidence to allow a Court to accurately ascertain an opposing party’s income and calculate child support.

Issues in cases involving child support include:

  • The application of Maryland Child Support Guidelines
  • The income of each party
  • The number of overnights each child spends with each parent
  • Work-related child care expenses
  • Costs to provide health insurance for the minor child
  • Extraordinary/uncovered medical expenses of the minor child
